During her career Val Georges has taken on progressively responsible positions, from teacher to Director, in the K-12 public education system. She has worked in northern, rural and urban school divisions in SK and MB. Presently she is a PhD student at the University of Alberta and teaches courses at the Canadian Indigenous Language and Literacy Development Institute. Her area of interest and study are Indigenous Language, Literacy and Assessment. She earned an M.Ed at the University of Manitoba in Inclusive Education and a B.Ed at the University of Saskatchewan through SUNTEP, Saskatoon. She is Metis, speaks some Cree-Michif, was born and raised in Ile a la Crosse (Sakitawak) SK.
